About the game
An elegant tile-laying puzzle game by Michael Kiesling, where players design a personal garden for the famous Sanssouci Palace, filling rows and columns with rose gardens, fountains, and labyrinths. Cards determine which colored, categorized tiles a player can draw from a shared supply, and players place tiles to fit strict row/column matching rules. Moving nobles along completed paths earns extra points across 18 rounds. A refined abstract-strategy puzzle with lovely garden theming for two to four players.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team enjoys Sanssouci's tight, elegant puzzle of matching tile colors and categories under real constraint - every placement decision ripples through future turns. Its garden theme and beautiful tile art give a calm, satisfying aesthetic to a sharply logical game. The bonus scoring for completed rows/columns and noble movement adds welcome extra strategic layers. Its abstract, puzzle-heavy nature may feel dry to players wanting a stronger narrative theme.
