About the game

Kashgar: Merchants of the Silk Road puts players in charge of three caravans trading spices along the ancient silk route. Each turn you activate the top card of one caravan family, gaining resources or fulfilling delivery contracts before that card cycles to the back of the line. This open deck-building system lets you shape your caravans' composition over time while racing to be the first to score 25 points. It's a brisk, low-downtime game with plenty of room for combo-building.

Hobbli's Notes

Kashgar offers a clever twist on deck-building by keeping everything visible on the table instead of in a private deck. Hobbli finds this open approach makes planning ahead more tactile and satisfying. It's an underappreciated gem for players who enjoy quick, combo-driven card games.

What we like

  • Innovative open deck-building mechanic.
  • Fast turns keep downtime low.
  • Rewarding combo-building among caravan members.
  • Attractive silk-road theme and art.

Keep in mind

  • Relatively obscure with a smaller player community.
  • Card interactions can be tricky to track for new players.

Who it's for

Good for Euro gamers age 12+ who enjoy card-driven engine building, in groups of 2-4.
