About the game

Arboretum is an elegant card game of hand management and set collection, where players quietly build beautiful garden paths using cards representing ten species of trees. On each turn you draw two cards then play one to your arboretum and discard one to a personal pile, all while planning for the endgame scoring showdown. Whoever holds the highest cards of a color in hand determines who can score a path in that color, creating clever bluffing about your final hand. It's a quick, thoughtful filler with a peaceful garden theme.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team finds Arboretum a lovely, understated filler, deceptively simple on the surface but full of quiet tension about what to hold back and what to discard. The garden theme and card art make it a relaxing change of pace between heavier games.

What we like

  • Quick 25-minute playtime.
  • Clever hand-management tension around discards.
  • Beautiful, calming nature-themed art.
  • Easy to teach to casual players.

Keep in mind

  • Endgame scoring can feel abstract to new players.
  • Limited player interaction beyond card counting.
  • Some players may find the theme purely decorative.

Who it's for

Great for 2-4 players aged 10+ who enjoy light strategy card games with hand management and a calm, nature-themed presentation.
