About the game
Asante casts two players as rival African merchants haggling over furs, silk, jewelry, and spices in a bustling marketplace. Using five actions per turn, you negotiate with special-ability characters, visit holy sites for bonus powers, and can even loosen animals on your opponent's stand to cause a little chaos. Designed by Rüdiger Dorn with art by Michael Menzel, it shares its world with Jambo and Waka Waka and can even be combined with them. It's a tight, tactical two-player trading duel.
Hobbli's Notes
A sharp head-to-head trading game from a proven designer pairing, with just enough spite (loosing animals on your opponent) to keep the negotiation from feeling too polite. A great pick for couples or friends who enjoy focused two-player strategy.
What we like
- Strictly two-player design ensures a tightly balanced duel.
- Compatible with Jambo and Waka Waka for expanded marketplace play.
- Five actions per turn create meaningful tactical planning each round.
- Attractive, evocative African marketplace theme and artwork.
Keep in mind
- Strictly limited to two players, so it can't scale to bigger groups.
- Best appreciated by those who already enjoy the Jambo/Waka Waka universe.
- Trading and negotiation mechanics may feel dry to non-euro fans.
Who it's for
Ideal for two players, ages 10 and up, who enjoy tight economic duels and don't mind a bit of tactical interference between opponents.
