About the game

Mythos Tales is a cooperative storytelling and deduction game for 1-10 players set in H.P. Lovecraft's 1920s Arkham. Using a newspaper, resident directory, ally list, and city map, players follow clues from location to location and suspect to suspect to solve one of eight included mysteries. Scoring depends on efficiency, sanity risked, and correctly answering each case's questions at the end. With no dice and no luck, it's a purely deductive challenge that rewards careful reading and reasoning.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's editors love Mythos Tales as an excellent Lovecraftian alternative to Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective, with strong atmosphere and genuinely challenging cases. Since there's no combat or dice, it's a refreshing pick for groups who enjoy narrative deduction over traditional competitive mechanics. The scenario variety across all eight cases keeps things replayable for a good while. A great choice for mystery-loving friend groups or solo players.

What we like

  • No dice or luck: purely deduction and reasoning based.
  • Atmospheric Lovecraftian theme with strong narrative writing.
  • Scales unusually well from solo to large groups.
  • Eight included cases offer solid content and variety.

Keep in mind

  • Once a case is solved, it can't be replayed with the same surprise.
  • Requires careful reading and note-taking, which not all players enjoy.
  • Pacing can drag if the group struggles to find the right clues.

Who it's for

Perfect for mystery and Lovecraft fans (13+) who enjoy narrative deduction, playing solo or in groups up to 10.
