About the game
OddVille is a card-driven city-building game in which players use four unique Worker cards to gather resources, complete projects, and construct buildings for a city ruled by competing guilds. On your turn, you either play a Worker card for its special ability or add a building to the growing city, connecting it via roads to gain bonuses from adjacent structures. Guild visits offer helpful bonuses but can be recalled away at inconvenient moments by rival players. The game ends the moment any player completes their sixth building, rewarding tight efficiency.
Hobbli's Notes
OddVille's guild-recall twist is a nice bit of spite - timing an opponent's guild member to leave right when it hurts them most never gets old. The city grows organically as everyone builds, which keeps the shared board state interesting from turn to turn. It's a solid mid-weight city-builder for players who enjoy worker-ability puzzles with a light dose of player interaction.
What we like
- Distinct Worker card abilities create varied strategic paths.
- Shared, growing city board keeps every player's choices relevant.
- Guild-recall mechanic adds a fun spiteful twist.
- Ends quickly once a player hits six buildings, keeping pace tight.
Keep in mind
- Fixed four-card structure can feel limiting after repeated plays.
- Guild mechanic's randomness can undercut careful planning.
Who it's for
Good for 2-4 players aged 10+ who enjoy card-driven city-building and worker-placement games.
