About the game

Escape from the Aliens in Outer Space plunges 2-8 players into a darkened, damaged spaceship where humans must sneak to the escape hatches while hidden aliens hunt them down. Movement is tracked secretly with pencil and paper, so every player must bluff, deduce, and interpret vague clues about who is really where. A unique paper-and-pencil hidden-movement system replaces a physical board, keeping true positions unknown until the tense endgame. It plays fast, supports big groups, and thrives on paranoia and misdirection.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli loves how a simple pencil-and-paper system creates genuine dread and suspicion around the table without any digital aids. The bluffing built into the card system means even honest-seeming information can be a trap, which keeps every session feeling fresh. It rewards a table that enjoys reading people as much as reading a map. The main caveat is that games can stall while players privately track movement, so it isn't for groups wanting constant fast-paced action.

What we like

  • Innovative paper-and-pencil hidden movement creates real suspense without an app or extra board.
  • Scales impressively from 2 up to 8 players.
  • Asymmetric human vs. alien roles give each side a distinct playstyle.
  • Quick to teach and plays in under an hour.

Keep in mind

  • High downtime while players privately record and interpret movement (downtime grade D).
  • Relies heavily on secret bookkeeping, which can be fiddly for new players.
  • Success depends a lot on reading opponents' behavior rather than pure strategy.

Who it's for

Best for teens and adults (12+) in groups of 4-8 who enjoy social deduction, bluffing, and hidden-movement tension over a quick horror-themed session.
