About the game
A fast-paced ancient-Egypt card game for 2-4 players by designer Bruno Cathala, in which players compete as merchants collecting goods for the temple of Sobek's construction. On each turn, players choose to take a goods card, play a character with a special power, or display sets of matching goods for scoring: but many actions come at the cost of corruption points that reduce your income later. The game unfolds over three rounds, or ends early if a player reaches 100 points, with the least corrupt high-scorer emerging as winner.
Hobbli's Notes
Sobek is a tight, tactical card game from acclaimed designer Bruno Cathala that squeezes real decision-making tension into a short 40-minute playtime. The corruption-versus-profit balancing act gives every turn a meaningful trade-off, which keeps the game from feeling too simple despite its light complexity. It's an excellent family-weight game that still rewards a sharper tactical eye. A great gateway game for introducing newer players to set collection and hand management.
