About the game

Wits & Wagers Family is the kid-friendly edition of the award-winning trivia and betting party game. Instead of needing to know the right answer, players just need to guess closer than everyone else: a question is asked, everyone writes a numeric guess, and then players place meeples on whichever guess (their own or someone else's) they think is closest. It removes the gambling element of the original and swaps in family-appropriate questions, playing three to ten people in about twenty minutes per round. The beloved oversized and small meeple pieces make scoring visual and satisfying. First to fifteen points wins.

Hobbli's Notes

This family edition strips away everything that made the original Wits & Wagers awkward for kids while keeping the clever "you don't need to know the answer" hook intact. It's one of the best trivia games for mixed-age groups because knowledge isn't required to win: just a good read on the guesses. It shines brightest with a full table of six or more.

What we like

  • No trivia expertise required, so everyone has an equal shot at winning.
  • Family-friendly questions make it appropriate for kids and adults together.
  • Supports large groups of up to ten players.
  • Quick rounds and simple scoring keep the pace energetic.

Keep in mind

  • Less exciting with the minimum of only three players.
  • Repeated play may reduce the surprise of familiar questions.
  • Removing the wagering element may feel tamer to adult fans of the original.

Who it's for

Great for families and mixed-age groups of three to ten players, ages 6 and up, who enjoy light trivia and guessing games.
