About the game

Glen More casts players as the leadership of 17th-century Scottish clans, expanding their territory across a growing chain of tiles. Every turn, players pick a new tile from a rondel, gaining the immediate benefits of neighboring tiles already in their territory while also determining when their next turn will come around. Balancing pastures, grain, whisky production, and market sales against the pull of special locations like lochs and castles drives every decision. The rondel-based turn order is the game's signature twist: taking more turns isn't automatically the best strategy, since timing your actions well matters just as much as frequency. It's a clever, mid-weight tile-laying euro from designer Matthias Cramer.

Hobbli's Notes

Glen More's rondel-driven turn order is one of those mechanisms that feels obvious in hindsight but genuinely changes how you think about tile-building games. Deciding whether to grab an extra turn now or wait for a better tile later creates constant, satisfying tension. It's accessible enough for regular euro gamers but has enough depth to reward repeat plays. A great mid-weight recommendation for groups who enjoy Alea's line of medium-box games.

What we like

  • Innovative rondel-based turn-order mechanism.
  • Satisfying tile-laying engine building.
  • Quick individual turns keep the game moving.
  • Charming Scottish clan theme.

Keep in mind

  • Turn-order tension can confuse new players at first.
  • Some luck in which tiles are available.
  • Scoring can require careful math to optimize.
