About the game

London challenges players to rebuild the city following the Great Fire of 1666, managing hand cards that represent famous buildings, businesses, and monuments while balancing wealth, victory points, and rising poverty. Players lay cards into their personal city display and periodically run their city, activating buildings in whatever order benefits them most to generate money, score points, or reduce poverty. Spanning nearly 250 years of London's history, it's a tight hand-management and city-building economic game from designer Martin Wallace.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team appreciates how London balances competing priorities, since chasing victory points or prestige monuments often comes at the direct cost of manageable poverty. The historical building cards give real texture to the abstract economic engine underneath. A rewarding, tightly designed Euro game for players who enjoy meaningful trade-offs.

What we like

  • Meaningful trade-offs between victory points, money, and poverty management.
  • Rich historical building cards add thematic texture.
  • Flexible run-your-city activation order rewards clever sequencing.
  • Well-regarded, tightly designed economic game from Martin Wallace.

Keep in mind
