About the game
Duplik is a fast-paced party game where one player, the Art Director, describes a bizarre image while the other Artists try to draw it from description alone. Once time is up, drawings are traded and judged against ten hidden criteria, with points awarded for matches. Wacky descriptions and mismatched drawings make for plenty of laughs among groups of three to ten.
Hobbli's Notes
We find Duplik to be a reliably funny party pick, thanks to the gap between verbal description and visual interpretation that almost always produces hilarious results. The judging phase adds a nice bit of structure so it's not purely chaotic silliness. It's an easy game to teach and works especially well with larger groups who enjoy performative, comedic play.
What we like
- Wacky descriptions reliably generate big laughs.
- Simple rules are quick to teach at any gathering.
- Scales well from three up to ten players.
- Judging criteria add structure to the comedy.
Keep in mind
- Longer waits between turns in bigger groups.
- Drawing skill isn't required but ability varies.
- Repeated play may reduce surprise over time.
Who it's for
Great for parties and family gatherings aged 12+ with groups of three to ten who enjoy drawing and guessing games.
