About the game
Lords of Vegas puts players in the role of developers building casinos on the Las Vegas Strip. Players place dice and casino tiles on lots, becoming the boss of any casino where they hold the highest die value. Turning over cards triggers payouts and points for casinos of matching colors, while players can expand, take over rival casinos, or negotiate trades of lots and money. Ultimately, only points matter, so controlling the biggest and best casinos is the path to victory.
Hobbli's Notes
Lords of Vegas mixes area-majority tile-building with an unusually open negotiation layer, letting players cut deals to reshape casino ownership on the fly. That negotiation is the game's biggest strength and its biggest risk, since deals can tip into kingmaking in the final turns. The dice-driven building system keeps things tactile and thematic for a game about casino sprawl.
What we like
- Open negotiation creates dynamic, ever-shifting alliances.
- Satisfying area-majority scoring rewards clever casino takeovers.
- Dice-based construction adds thematic tension to every build.
- Casino building theme comes through strongly in the components.
Keep in mind
- Negotiation late in the game can tip into kingmaking.
- Dice-driven ownership introduces luck that can frustrate planners.
- Moderate playtime with some downtime between turns.
Who it's for
Gamers who enjoy economic negotiation and area-majority building, best played by 2 to 4 adults or teens ages 12 and up.
