About the game

Ave Caesar sends players racing chariots around the Circus Maximus, navigating a track full of bottlenecks and tricky lane changes using a hand of movement cards. Racers must complete three full laps and make a mandatory pit stop to 'Hail Caesar' before they can finish. Cutting corners on the inside lane is efficient but risky, while the safer outside routes can cost you precious movement. This light, family-friendly racing classic has been reprinted many times and even inspired variants like Ausgebremst.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team considers Ave Caesar a timeless party racer that's easy to teach and endlessly replayable thanks to its clever movement-card system. The tension of choosing between the risky inside lane and the safer outside route creates constant tactical decisions despite the game's simple rules. It's a great choice when you want quick, competitive fun without a long rules explanation. We recommend it for groups looking for a light racing game with real strategic bite.
