About the game

Funny Friends is a dark-humored life-simulation card game where each player guides a character from teenage years through a chaotic, adult-flavored life. Choices ripple across characteristics like wealth, health, sadness, and various vices, with excess in one area often crashing another. Auction, hand management, and drafting mechanics determine which life events you experience, and friendships formed with other players' characters create shared consequences. It's a satirical, distinctly grown-up spin on the life-simulation genre from designer Friedemann Friese.

Hobbli's Notes

This is a genuinely unusual game: equal parts dark comedy and mechanical card game, tackling mature themes with a wink. It's memorable, but it's absolutely not for every group, and the humor leans hard into adult content.

What we like

  • Darkly comedic life-simulation narrative is memorable.
  • Auction and hand-management mechanics add real decision-making.
  • Social play encourages laughter and shared storytelling.
  • Distinctive mature theme sets it apart from typical family games.

Keep in mind

  • Mature content makes it unsuitable for younger or sensitive groups.
  • Higher downtime score suggests waiting between turns.
  • Niche, adult-oriented humor may not land with every group.

Who it's for

Intended strictly for adult groups aged 16+ looking for a satirical, mature party-leaning card game.
