About the game

La Cuenta sends your group tapas bar hopping, hoping not to be the one stuck paying the bill. Each round represents a new bar, and on your turn you must play a card from your hand or else you're forced to pick up the tab. Managing your hand and knowing when to hold or dump cards is key, since running out of playable cards forces a costly reset. The game ends the moment someone runs out of savings, and whoever has the most money left wins. With its quick, cutthroat rounds and Spanish tapas theme, it's built for boisterous, high-player-count party nights.

Hobbli's Notes

La Cuenta is a snappy little hand-management game with a fun 'hot potato' tension; nobody wants to be the one left holding the bill. The tapas-bar theme is a charming, food-driven twist on the classic take-that party formula. It supports a big table of up to eight, which is a real plus for party nights, though the light rules mean it won't hold the attention of strategy-focused groups for long.

What we like

  • Supports up to 8 players, making it great for big gatherings.
  • Quick rounds keep the energy high at party tables.
  • Simple hand-management rules are easy to teach.
  • Fun tapas-bar theme adds personality to a light card game.

Keep in mind

  • Limited strategic depth for players wanting more than a filler.
  • Take-that style bluffing may not suit players who dislike targeted play.
  • Relatively new release with limited track record.

Who it's for

Great for party groups ages 7+ who enjoy quick, social card games; scales well from 3 to 8 players.
