About the game

dnup is a hand-management card game where the goal is simply to empty your hand first. Each card carries different numbers at its top and bottom, and players can rearrange, but not revolve, their hand at will. On a turn, you can play matching-value cards, add cards to the shared table, take cards from opponents, or revolve your whole hand, with overplaying and taking triggering rotations for others. It supports two to five players in a brisk twenty minutes, with rounds played until someone reaches four points. The revolving-card twist gives this ladder-climbing game a distinctive spatial puzzle layer.

Hobbli's Notes

Dnup adds a clever revolve mechanic to the familiar ladder-climbing card game formula, giving it a spatial-puzzle feel that's a bit different from typical Tichu-likes. As a very new and fairly obscure release, we don't yet have a strong read on how it holds up across many plays or with larger groups. The core loop is quick and portable, which bodes well for casual pickup play.

What we like

  • Quick-to-learn ladder-climbing card mechanics.
  • Unique revolving-card twist adds a fresh spatial puzzle layer.
  • Short twenty-minute playtime suits quick sessions.
  • Simple components make it easy to bring anywhere.

Keep in mind

  • Very new and unproven title with limited community feedback so far.
  • The revolve mechanic may take a few rounds to fully grasp.
  • Lighter strategic depth compared to bigger climbing card games.
