About the game

Mesos casts players as the leader of an ancient tribe during the Mesolithic era, growing their people, constructing buildings, and navigating unfolding events. Each round you place your totem on an offer track, then acquire character or building cards in track order to add to your tribe. Cards trigger effects and earn prestige points as you build up your settlement and prepare for coming events. The player who accumulates the most prestige wins.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team likes how Mesos wraps a light drafting-and-set-collection engine in an unusual prehistoric setting rarely seen on the table. Turns move briskly thanks to the offer-track structure. It's a solid mid-weight pick, though the drafting core will feel familiar to seasoned euro gamers.

What we like

  • Offer-track drafting keeps turns quick and easy to follow.
  • Prehistoric tribe theme offers a fresh setting for a card game.
  • Accessible ruleset works well for a wide range of ages.
  • Set collection scales cleanly from two to five players.

Keep in mind

  • Some noted downtime while waiting for the offer track to resolve.
  • Repeated drafting rounds can feel similar over multiple plays.
  • Player interaction is fairly limited outside of the shared offer track.

Who it's for

Good for families with older kids and casual-to-mid-weight euro gamers age 10+, in groups of two to five.
