About the game

Rebel Princess reimagines fairy tale heroines as independent women trying to dodge marriage proposals during a five-day royal ball. Playing a trick-taking game across five uniquely-ruled rounds, players try to avoid collecting cards featuring Prince Charmings: and especially the dreaded enchanted frog, who brings five proposals at once. Each princess has her own once-per-round special ability, adding asymmetry to the classic trick-taking formula. Whoever collects the fewest proposals after five days wins her independence.

Hobbli's Notes

This is a charming twist on trick-taking, with the fairy tale theme doing real work by making 'avoid winning tricks' feel thematic rather than arbitrary. The changing special rule each round keeps the five-round structure fresh and the asymmetric princess powers give replayability. It's light enough for a broad audience but still has enough tension to satisfy trick-taking fans. Newcomers to trick-taking games will find it an inviting entry point.
