About the game

Railways of the Lost Atlas is an 18xx-style economic game set on a shifting fantasy map that players help build during setup, so no two games look alike. Taking on the role of investors, players launch minor railway companies, lay track, and generate revenue that can be reinvested into infrastructure or paid out as dividends. As the game progresses, minor companies merge into larger ones with expanded operational freedom, while each of the twelve minor companies keeps a distinctive identity even after merging. Stock manipulation, auctions, and network-building combine into a deep, multi-hour economic strategy experience. Multiple game modes and modular options let groups tune the length and complexity to their taste.

Hobbli's Notes

Railways of the Lost Atlas brings genuine innovation to the 18xx genre by making the map itself variable, which keeps the route-building puzzle fresh even for veteran 18xx players. The distinct minor-company identities persisting through mergers is a smart design touch that adds flavor to what can otherwise feel like a spreadsheet exercise. This is a demanding, multi-hour economic game aimed squarely at experienced strategy gamers, not a casual pick.
