About the game
Transmissions brings the whimsical mechanical world of illustrator Matt Dixon to the table, as players share a set of adorable robots moving around a rondel-style board to collect engrams and electricity. These resources fuel ideas that upgrade your robots or score points, while a separate system of connected pipes and gathered birds and butterflies offers additional scoring avenues. The game ends when ideas run out, a player completes their robots, or the pipe supply is exhausted, followed by one final round for everyone. With a shared worker rondel and gentle, welcoming rules, it's an approachable yet clever worker-placement experience.
Hobbli's Notes
The shared-robot rondel is a fresh spin on worker placement, since everyone is moving the same pool of workers rather than owning private ones, timing and anticipation matter more than raw resource stockpiling. The whimsical robot theme and charming miniatures make it inviting for less experienced players, while the pipe-building side track gives optimizers something to chew on. It's a lighter-weight euro that punches above its complexity rating for engagement.
