About the game

Schotten Totten 2 reimagines Reiner Knizia's classic duel for two players, this time with one player attacking to breach the other's wall while the defender holds the line. Players build poker-style card formations across seven battlefield locations, each capable of holding two to four cards depending on the spot. The defender can call on boiling oil tokens to clear out threatening attacker formations, adding a sharp tactical wrinkle to the tension. With numbered cards across five colors plus ten tactical cards, every hand demands careful sequencing and bluffing. It's a tight, portable two-player card duel built for repeat play.

Hobbli's Notes

this is a terrific evolution of an already-excellent two-player classic. The asymmetric attacker/defender roles give both sides a genuinely different puzzle to solve, keeping matches fresh well beyond what the original Schotten Totten offered. It's small enough to toss in a bag and deep enough to reward repeated plays with the same partner. A must-own for anyone who loves lean, high-skill two-player card games.

What we like

  • Approachable rules hiding surprisingly deep tactics.
  • Strong, well-balanced two-player experience.
  • Asymmetric attacker/defender roles add fresh variety.
  • Small, portable box that's easy to bring anywhere.
  • Fast 20-minute playtime encourages repeat matches.

Keep in mind

  • Strictly a two-player game with no scaling options.
  • Players who dislike head-to-head card duels may find it too narrow.

Who it's for

Ideal for two-player game nights, couples, and fans of tight tactical card duels aged 8 and up.
