About the game

Trails of Tucana is a fast, flip-and-write game where players draw personal road networks connecting villages and sights scattered across their own randomized map of the island. Each turn, a shared pair of terrain cards is revealed, and every player draws a trail between matching terrain spaces on their own board simultaneously. Points come from connecting harbors and linking sights along the way, with bonuses for being first to finish key connections. It's a light, elegant fifteen-minute puzzle with real strategic depth for its size.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team enjoys how Trails of Tucana packs meaningful decision-making into such a short playtime - the varying rarity of terrain cards means players must plan flexible routes rather than a single fixed path. It scales beautifully up to eight players thanks to its simultaneous drawing format. The randomized starting maps keep the puzzle fresh game after game. A great quick filler for groups who love roll-and-write and flip-and-write games.

What we like

  • Quick fifteen-minute playtime fits easily into any game night.
  • Randomized starting maps ensure high replayability.
  • Simultaneous drawing keeps downtime low even with eight players.
  • Simple rules hide a surprisingly satisfying route-planning puzzle.

Keep in mind

  • Limited direct player interaction beyond racing for bonus points.
  • Can feel repetitive if played too many times in a row.
  • Thin theme beyond the abstract route-drawing puzzle.

Who it's for

Ages 8+, great for families and puzzle-game fans wanting a quick, replayable route-building challenge, in groups of 1-8.
