About the game
Circadians: First Light lands players on the alien planet of Ryh, leading a team of researchers who must negotiate with local clans, farm and trade resources, and conduct scientific research. Dice serve as your crew, deployed to different regions of the planet for trade, construction, and exploration actions. Over eight rounds, you'll build a diplomatic and scientific presence while collecting rare gems and upgrading your research base. The player with the most points after the final round wins, having balanced diplomacy, resource management, and exploration.
Hobbli's Notes
Circadians: First Light offers an inventive dice-as-workers system wrapped in a compelling first-contact sci-fi theme. It's a more under-the-radar title, but the eight-round structure and variable powers suggest strong long-term strategic depth for the right group.
What we like
- Inventive dice-as-workers mechanism with variable player powers.
- Strong sci-fi exploration theme spanning negotiation, farming, and research.
- Solid solo variant for lone play.
- Eight-round structure gives the game a satisfying long-term arc.
Keep in mind
- Being a niche title, it can be harder to find familiar opponents.
- Moderate-to-high complexity for casual players.
- Dice-based worker allocation adds luck to otherwise strategic decisions.
Who it's for
Best for mid-to-heavy euro gamers who enjoy dice-worker mechanisms and sci-fi themes; suited to 1 to 4 players, teens and up.
