About the game
EXIT: The Game - The Catacombs of Horror sends players deep beneath the city of Paris to search for a friend who mysteriously vanished in the catacombs. As with other titles in the EXIT series, components are meant to be folded, written on, and torn, making it a genuinely tactile, single-use puzzle experience. This entry is split into two connected parts, each presenting its own distinct challenge within the same underground labyrinth. Cooperative deduction and clever puzzle design guide players toward escaping the dark mysteries below.
Hobbli's Notes
The EXIT series continues to set the standard for at-home escape-room games, and The Catacombs of Horror's two-part structure gives it a bit more scope than a typical single EXIT box. The horror atmosphere is well realized without tipping into anything too intense for a game night crowd. Tearing and marking components genuinely heightens immersion in a way that reusable systems can't quite match. A great choice for groups craving a longer, moodier escape-room experience.
What we like
- Immersive horror-themed escape room brought to the tabletop.
- Two-part structure offers extended puzzle-solving content.
- Tactile components meant to be folded and torn heighten immersion.
- Accessible cooperative format works for varied groups.
Keep in mind
- Single-use design means no replay after it's solved.
- Very long total playtime of around four hours across both parts.
- Difficulty can frustrate casual puzzle solvers.
Who it's for
Great for cooperative groups of 1-4, ages 12 and up, who enjoy puzzle-solving and horror-themed escape-room experiences.
