About the game
The Artemis Project sends players to colonize the hidden seas beneath the icy crust of Europa, Jupiter's moon. Colonists arrive as Pioneers, Engineers, Marines, or Stewards, each contributing to exploration, construction, defense, or negotiation. Players use dice placement and displacement to gather energy and minerals, bid for buildings, go on expeditions, and train workers, all while fending off other colonies and uncovering strange alien artifacts. It's a dice-and-worker-placement hybrid for 1-5 players.
Hobbli's Notes
An inventive hybrid of dice placement and worker placement wrapped in a compelling undersea sci-fi colonization theme. The blend of resource management and light conflict works well, though the various sub-systems add noticeable rules overhead.
What we like
- Unique undersea sci-fi colonization theme stands out from typical euros.
- Hybrid dice-placement and worker-placement mechanics offer fresh choices.
- Scales well from solo play up to five players.
- Variable setup keeps repeated plays feeling fresh.
Keep in mind
- Moderate rules complexity can challenge newcomers.
- Dice-based actions introduce a meaningful luck factor.
- Expedition and combat sub-systems can feel somewhat disconnected.
Who it's for
