About the game
Space Explorers is a card-drafting economic game that pays tribute to the pioneers of the early Space Race, from Sputnik to Yuri Gagarin. Players lead a Research & Development Hub, recruiting Specialists and completing large-scale Projects to earn Progress points. A closed-loop resource system passes Research tokens to the left, and unique Specialist abilities create shifting strategic priorities. Designed by Yuri Zhuravljov, it plays in about 40 minutes for 1-4 players.
Hobbli's Notes
We like the thematic tribute to the Golden Age of Astronautics and the neat closed-loop resource mechanism that keeps resources flowing between players. Managing which Specialist ability to keep active adds a satisfying layer of tension to the drafting. It's a solid mid-weight card game, if not groundbreaking. A nice option for space-race enthusiasts who enjoy drafting and set collection.
