About the game
Nusfjord casts players as fishing company owners in a tranquil Norwegian fjord village, developing harbors, clearing forests, and satisfying local elders through classic worker placement. Each of three workers vies for limited action spaces on a shared board, while money stays scarce enough that selling company shares becomes a tempting but risky move. Designed by Uwe Rosenberg, it plays faster and lighter than Agricola or Caverna while retaining his signature economic engine-building feel. It supports 1 to 5 players including a solo mode. Games run around 100 minutes.
Hobbli's Notes
A wonderful, more approachable entry point into Rosenberg's worker-placement catalog. It keeps the satisfying engine-building core while trimming some of the heavier bookkeeping of his bigger titles.
What we like
- Accessible entry point into Rosenberg's worker-placement style.
- Very low downtime thanks to efficient turn structure.
- Satisfying economic engine-building across the full game.
- Solid solo mode for a game with strong multiplayer tension.
- Charming Nordic fishing-village theme and presentation.
Keep in mind
- Can feel dry or dispassionate for players who want strong theme.
- Tight worker-placement spaces can frustrate latecomers each round.
- Less mechanical depth than Rosenberg's heavier titles for veteran fans.
