About the game
Sunset Over Water sends players hiking into the wilderness to paint beautiful landscapes over the course of six in-game days. Each day begins with a simultaneous planning phase where you choose how far to travel and how many paintings you can create, followed by individual treks to gather and sell landscape cards. Selling paintings as commissions and completing daily goals earns Renown, while unsold paintings still count for points at the end. With simple simultaneous action selection and solo play support, it's a relaxed, contemplative game about art and nature. The painter with the most Renown after six days wins.
Hobbli's Notes
Sunset Over Water has a gentle, artistic soul: its watercolor-style art and unhurried pace make it feel more like a meditative hike than a competitive race. Hobbli's team enjoys its clever simultaneous planning phase, which keeps everyone engaged even though turns don't directly interact much. It's a lovely, low-conflict choice for players who want a relaxed strategy game with real thematic charm.
