About the game

Bohnanza: The Duel reimagines Uwe Rosenberg's classic bean-trading game for exactly two players. Each duelist plants beans in personal fields, offering unwanted beans to their opponent as 'gifts' that can be accepted or bluffed away. Only the first player to accept a gift receives it, so timing and bluffing matter as much as bean management. Secret 'bo(h)nus' objectives give players extra ways to score beyond simply harvesting large fields.

Hobbli's Notes

This trims Bohnanza's chaotic multiplayer trading down to a tighter, more tactical two-player duel, and the bluffing-through-gifts mechanic is a smart replacement for open negotiation. It keeps the original's charm while playing in a fraction of the table space.

What we like

  • Clever adaptation of Bohnanza's bean-trading formula for two players.
  • Quick, engaging bluffing-through-gifts mechanic.
  • Quirky bean theme with charming, accessible art.
  • Short and portable, easy to fit into a casual evening.

Keep in mind

  • Two-player only limits group use.
  • Less chaotic and social than the original multiplayer Bohnanza.
  • Bean-farming theme may feel silly to players wanting a serious strategy game.

Who it's for

Great for two players aged 12 and up looking for a light, quick strategy game with some bluffing.
