About the game
Eurorails is a classic crayon-rail game where two to six players draw their own rail networks across a puzzle-piece map of Europe, connecting cities to deliver goods for profit. Using colored crayons, you literally draw your growing rail empire dot by dot, racing to link major cities while fulfilling delivery contracts drawn from a large card deck. Payoffs scale with distance, so ambitious long-haul routes can be lucrative but risky. A full game runs about four hours and rewards players who build the most efficient, far-reaching network.
Hobbli's Notes
This is a beloved entry in the crayon-rail genre alongside Empire Builder and India Rails, and the European map gives it a distinctly different flavor and layout to plan around. Watching your rail network take shape in crayon across the shared board has a satisfying tactile quality that digital train games can't replicate. It's a serious time investment at four hours, so it's best saved for a dedicated game day rather than a casual evening. Train game fans and economic strategy lovers will find a lot to sink their teeth into here.
What we like
- Classic, tactile crayon-drawn network building.
- Large detailed map rewards long-term route planning.
- Scales up to six players.
- Deep economic strategy with real replayability.
Keep in mind
- Very long four-hour playtime.
- Downtime between turns can be noticeable in larger groups.
- Presentation feels dated next to modern train games.
Who it's for
Best for experienced strategy gamers who enjoy economic and network-building games, in groups of two to six with time for a long session.
