About the game
In Elysium, players take on the role of demigods in mythic Greece, recruiting heroes, artifacts, and the gods' favor to build powerful card combinations. Each card belongs to one of eight Olympian families and one of three power levels, and players draft and play cards to form Legends that earn gold and victory points before losing their power once played. With five rounds of drafting and combination-building, it's a strategic set-collection game wrapped in Greek mythology.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team enjoys the tension in Elysium between building powerful synergies and the constant pressure to write your legends before losing access to those combos. The Greek mythology theme is beautifully realized, and the drafting mechanism keeps every round meaningful. A satisfying mid-weight game for players who like combo-building set collection.
What we like
- Rewarding combo-building with a satisfying push to complete Legends.
- Rich Greek mythology theme with strong artwork.
- Drafting mechanic keeps every round tense and meaningful.
- Variable set-up increases replayability.
Keep in mind
- Can feel a bit fiddly to track combinations and bonuses.
- Player interaction is mostly indirect through drafting competition.
Who it's for
Suited for gamers aged 14+ who enjoy set collection and combination-building games; plays best with 3-4 players in about an hour.
