About the game

Millennium Blades is a satirical CCG-simulator where players portray friends playing a fictional collectible card game, complete with booster packs, deck building, and tournament play. Over the course of a single session, you'll crack open boosters, trade cards in a real-time market, build the best deck you can, and compete for prizes and fame at Regionals. Its art and mechanics lovingly parody Magic: The Gathering and similar CCGs. Games can even be chained into a multi-session campaign moving from Regionals to Worlds.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli finds Millennium Blades a hilarious and chaotic love letter to collectible card game culture. The real-time trading phase generates real energy at the table, though the length and card-sorting overhead make it a bigger commitment than it first appears.

What we like

  • Cleverly parodies and simulates the CCG collecting experience.
  • Real-time trading phase creates genuine excitement and tension.
  • Massive card pool keeps games feeling fresh across plays.
  • Rewards both deckbuilding skill and shrewd market trading.

Keep in mind

  • Long playtime and setup compared to typical card games.
  • Real-time trading can overwhelm players new to the game.
  • Large component count requires significant sorting and storage.

Who it's for

Fans of CCGs and deckbuilders who enjoy chaotic real-time trading will get the most out of this for two to five players, ages 12 and up.
