About the game

Glass Road commemorates the centuries-old glassmaking tradition of Bavaria's forest region, where players manage glass and brick production to construct valuable buildings. Each of fifteen specialist cards offers two abilities, but playing a card no one else has chosen lets you use both, while shared choices split the benefit. Players gather resources, place landscape tiles like ponds and pits, and build processing structures and end-game bonus buildings across four building periods. Designed by Uwe Rosenberg, it's a compact, card-driven resource-management puzzle with a solo variant. It supports 1 to 4 players in about 80 minutes.

Hobbli's Notes

An underrated Rosenberg design that trades big wooden components for a tighter, card-driven resource puzzle. The simultaneous specialist selection keeps downtime refreshingly low for a game this deep.

What we like

  • Low downtime thanks to simultaneous specialist card selection.
  • Tight, rewarding resource-management puzzle.
  • Solid solo variant for a fundamentally multiplayer design.
  • Compact card-based footprint is easy to bring to the table.
  • Satisfying long-term building across four periods.

Keep in mind

  • Theme feels thin, mostly abstracted through card effects.
  • Can feel dry or repetitive for players wanting stronger narrative.
  • Card draft luck can limit available strategic options.

Who it's for
