About the game

Northern Pacific is a luck-free, 20-minute railroad-building game where players race a shared train from Minneapolis to Seattle. On each turn you either invest in a not-yet-reached city or extend the railroad's track along directional routes, hoping the line eventually passes through your investments. When the train reaches a city with your cubes, you cash them in and gain more to invest elsewhere. After three rounds of building and resetting the board, whoever has made the best investments wins. It's a tight, quick network-building game in the classic route-building tradition.

Hobbli's Notes

Northern Pacific packs surprising tension into a short playtime, as reading where the shared train will go next is the whole game. Hobbli's team appreciates that it's entirely luck-free: every outcome stems from player decisions about track direction and investment timing. It's a great gateway into route-building and investment games for players intimidated by longer titles. The three-round reset structure keeps the tension building toward a satisfying finish.
