About the game
In Last Will, players are heirs racing to spend down a fortune before their rivals, competing to be the first to blow their inheritance on parties, restaurants, and depreciating properties. Each round you choose an action plan that determines how many cards you draw, actions you get, and turn order, then spend money on helpers, events, and properties to burn through your cash. It's a clever action-point and worker-placement hybrid wrapped in a delightfully absurd spend-it-all-first premise from designer Vladimir Suchy.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's editorial team appreciates how Last Will inverts the usual accumulate-wealth formula into a race to broke, giving the game a fresh strategic puzzle. The interlocking plan-selection system rewards careful planning while still leaving room for reactive plays. It's a mid-weight economic game with real bite for players who enjoy planning several moves ahead.
What we like
- Clever inversion of the typical wealth-building economic game theme.
- Action-plan system rewards forward planning and adaptability.
- Good variety of ways to spend money keeps replays fresh.
- Strong sense of humor throughout the game's presentation.
Keep in mind
- Can involve some downtime waiting for other players' turns.
- The economic engine may feel dry to non-strategy fans.
Who it's for
Best suited for experienced gamers aged 14+ who enjoy economic and worker-placement games; plays well with 2-5 players in a group that likes some direct competition.
