About the game

Time's Up! Family is a team-based party game built around three rounds of increasingly restrictive charades. Using the same deck of well-known people, animals, and objects across all three rounds, teams take turns giving clues to help teammates guess as many cards as possible in 30 seconds. Round one allows almost any clue, round two restricts you to a single word, and round three bans words entirely, forcing pure gestures. It's a raucous, laughter-filled game that rewards teams who memorize clues from earlier rounds.

Hobbli's Notes

This is one of the most reliable party games for a big, mixed-age crowd: the escalating restriction across rounds is what keeps it fresh even with the same cards. It genuinely gets funnier as the rounds get harder.

What we like

  • Escalating clue restrictions across three rounds keep gameplay fresh.
  • Excellent for large groups and mixed-age gatherings.
  • Simple to teach and instantly understandable.
  • High laughter factor and strong replay value.

Keep in mind

  • Requires outgoing, physically expressive players to shine.
  • Larger groups can mean longer waits between turns.
  • Not well suited to quiet, low-energy game nights.

Who it's for

Great for large, energetic groups aged 8 and up, ideally in teams of two or more.
