About the game

Xiangqi, or Chinese Chess, is one of the world's most widely played abstract strategy games, with roots tracing back over a thousand years. Two players command armies of Generals, Chariots, Cannons, Horses, Elephants, and Soldiers across a 9x10 grid split by a river, aiming to checkmate the opposing General. Its mix of familiar chess-like maneuvering and unique pieces like the leaping Cannon gives it a distinct tactical flavor. A true classic abstract duel with centuries of strategic depth.

Hobbli's Notes

Xiangqi rewards the same deep, patient strategic thinking as Western chess but with its own unique flavor, especially the Cannon's leap-to-capture rule. It's a game you can spend a lifetime mastering, and a wonderful pick for anyone who loves pure abstract strategy duels.
