About the game

Timeline: Inventions is a card game where each of 55 cards depicts a famous invention, with its date hidden on one side. Players take turns placing a card from their hand into a chronological row, then flip it to check if it lands correctly; a wrong guess sends the card away and adds a new one to their hand. The first player to place all their cards correctly wins. It combines easily with other titles in the Timeline series for even more variety.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli loves Timeline as an ultra-portable, endlessly teachable trivia game that sneaks in some real history along the way. It's quick enough for a lunch break yet works just as well as a family or classroom activity. The ability to mix editions together keeps it fresh long after the novelty of one box wears off.

What we like

  • Quick to learn while teaching real historical facts along the way.
  • Combines well with other Timeline series titles for endless variety.
  • Fast 15-minute playtime fits any occasion.
  • Simple card-ordering mechanic works for a wide age range.

Keep in mind

  • Relies on trivia knowledge, which can advantage well-read players.
  • Limited strategic depth beyond placement guessing.
  • Repeated plays may reduce surprise as cards become familiar.

Who it's for

Great for families, students, and trivia lovers of ages 8+, in groups of 2-8.
