About the game
Shipyard is a tile-laying and drafting Euro game for two to four players who each manage a 19th-century shipbuilding company. Using a rondel-based action-track system, players hire employees, buy ship components, secure evaluating committee favor, and rent canals to launch completed vessels on shakedown cruises. Ships earn points for speed, crew, equipment, or safety, plus bonus points from government contracts. It's a tightly interlocking engine-builder about constructing the best possible ships piece by piece.
Hobbli's Notes
Shipyard offers a clever action-track mechanism where the order you take actions constantly shifts, forcing players to plan several moves ahead. Vladimir Suchy's design rewards efficient tile placement and careful contract timing. It's a satisfying, moderately heavy Euro for players who enjoy optimization puzzles.
