About the game

You're Bluffing! is a classic bidding-and-bluffing card game built around sets of colorful farm animals, four cards to a set. Players auction off the deck's top animal or trade privately to complete their own sets, using a blind, simultaneous bidding system when trading one-on-one. The auctioneer always retains the right to buy the animal back at the winning bid, adding a layer of bluffing to every sale. It's simple to teach, plays in around 45 minutes, and rewards players who can read just how much their opponent is willing to risk. This design is closely related to (and reimplemented by) Kuhhandel Master.

Hobbli's Notes

Hobbli's team appreciates how much social reading this little game demands despite its simple rules: the blind trades are where all the fun and frustration live. It's a great pick for a mixed group who enjoy a bit of table talk and light betting without heavy strategy. The farm-animal theme keeps things playful, and the auctioneer's right to buy back their own animal adds a nice bluffing wrinkle. It won't satisfy players looking for deep strategy, but as a quick, social family game it holds up well.

What we like

  • Simple auction and blind-bid trading mechanics are easy to teach.
  • Quick, social gameplay fits a wide range of group sizes.
  • Humorous farm-animal theme appeals to families and casual players.
  • The auctioneer's buy-back option adds a clever bluffing twist.
  • A well-established classic design with decades of proven appeal.

Keep in mind

  • Luck and social pressure can favor bold or aggressive bidders.
  • Blind bidding can feel frustrating when reads go wrong.
  • Offers limited strategic depth for experienced gamers.
  • Outcomes can feel arbitrary if trading partners misjudge values.
