About the game
Sun Tzu, also known as Dynasties, is a two-player abstract strategy game recreating the ancient rivalry between Sun Tzu's Wu forces and King Shao's Ch'u armies. Players simultaneously play cards to specific provinces, revealing them to add or remove armies based on card values and special effects, all while pushing a central scoring marker toward their opponent's side. Timing your limited-use special cards precisely can turn the tide of an entire province. The tug-of-war tension builds over nine rounds until one side achieves decisive control.
Hobbli's Notes
Sun Tzu is a tight, elegant two-player area-control duel with simultaneous card reveals that create real bluffing and timing tension despite its abstract presentation. The tug-of-war scoring track gives an immediate, visceral sense of who's winning at any moment. Its short thirty-minute playtime and pure two-player focus make it an easy, replayable duel for strategy-minded pairs.
