About the game

Ticket to Ride: Europe sends players on a train-building tour across the continent, from Edinburgh to Constantinople, collecting colored cards to claim rail routes and complete secret destination tickets. New elements like tunnels, ferries, and train stations add fresh texture to the beloved Ticket to Ride formula. It's simple to teach in about five minutes, yet offers enough tactical route-blocking to keep experienced players engaged. A perfect gateway game that bridges casual family play and more dedicated gamer groups.

Hobbli's Notes

This is one of the best-loved entries in the Ticket to Ride series, and for good reason: the European map's tunnels and ferries add just enough new decision-making without complicating the elegant core game. It's an ideal family night pick since the rules are light but the map-reading tension of racing for routes keeps everyone engaged. The downside is a bit of downtime waiting for turns in larger groups, and experienced players may find the base tension familiar if they've played the original.

What we like

  • Extremely easy to teach and learn in about five minutes.
  • New tunnels, ferries, and stations add welcome variety over the original.
  • Wide age range appeal makes it ideal for family game night.
  • Attractive, colorful map design and satisfying train-piece placement.
  • Good balance of route-blocking tension and accessible strategy.

Keep in mind

  • Can suffer from downtime in five-player games.
  • Some luck involved in ticket card draws.
  • Interaction is mostly indirect route-blocking rather than direct conflict.

Who it's for

Great for families and casual groups, ages 8 and up, playing with 2-5 people; easy enough for kids yet has enough push-your-luck tension for adults.
