About the game

Bot Factory drops you into a bustling robotics workshop where you gather projects and parts to assemble bots that meet market demand. Borrowing the clever worker-placement system from Vital Lacerda's Kanban, turn order shifts based on where Sandra, the factory manager, and other workers are standing. Players draft tiles and juggle variable phase orders to optimize their production line each round. It's a tighter, more approachable entry point into Lacerda's intricate design philosophy. Assemble the highest-value bots to prove your factory floor is the best in the business.

Hobbli's Notes

We love how Bot Factory takes the beloved worker-position turn order from Kanban and repackages it into a snappier, more digestible experience. Vital Lacerda's fingerprints are all over the tight resource conversion and phase-order tension, but the shorter 60-minute runtime makes it far less intimidating than his sprawling epics. It rewards efficient planning without punishing new players too harshly. A great pick if you want a taste of heavier euro design without committing to a marathon session.

What we like

  • Clever turn-order mechanism tied to worker positioning keeps every round tense.
  • Rewards efficient planning and resource conversion without excessive downtime.
  • Approachable complexity compared to designer Vital Lacerda's heavier titles.
  • Solid variable phase order adds a fresh layer of tactical decision-making.

Keep in mind

  • Thematic connection to Kanban may feel thin if you haven't played that game.
  • Some players may find the worker-placement puzzle a bit dry thematically.

Who it's for

Best for euro-game fans aged 14+ who enjoy tight worker placement and production-chain puzzles, ideally in groups of 2-4 gamers who don't mind a moderately crunchy mid-weight game.
