About the game
Canopy is a two-player (expandable to four, plus solo) card game about growing the most bountiful rainforest through careful drafting and push-your-luck timing. Each turn, you peek at one of three growth piles and either claim it for your tableau or return it face-down with an extra card added, tempting you to gamble for a bigger haul later. Balancing tall trees, lush plants, and wildlife lets you build symbiotic combos, but piles can also hide dangers like fire, disease, and drought. Beautiful nature-inspired art brings the rainforest ecosystem to life on the table. A bonus season-variant deck adds even more variety for repeat plays.
Hobbli's Notes
We appreciate how Canopy blends a simple push-your-luck pile mechanic with genuine set-collection strategy around ecosystem-building. The risk of adding cards to piles you skip creates a lovely tension between patience and greed. Its gorgeous art and calming nature theme make it a relaxing, contemplative game despite the underlying competition. The solo mode and multiplayer variants add nice flexibility, though the two-player experience is where it shines brightest.
What we like
- Elegant push-your-luck pile mechanic creates real tension.
- Gorgeous nature-themed artwork.
- Solid solo mode alongside the core two-player game.
- Season variant deck adds extra replayability.
Keep in mind
- Best experience is designed primarily for two players.
- Relatively low direct interaction compared to more confrontational games.
- Some luck involved in what appears in the growth piles.
Who it's for
A lovely choice for two players aged 8-10+ who enjoy nature themes and push-your-luck set collection, with solo and small-group options available.
