About the game

Rocketmen is a deck-building race game by Martin Wallace where players compete to be the first to achieve historic space milestones, from low Earth orbit to a manned Mars base. Each round you draft and manage a growing deck of mission cards, carefully balancing risk and resource management as you plan launches and equip your rockets. Hidden roles add a layer of secrecy and tension to the competitive race for space supremacy. Push-your-luck decisions determine when to launch versus when to wait and build further, with the tension of rival players never waiting running throughout. It supports solo play and up to four players in a roughly 90-minute session.

Hobbli's Notes

Rocketmen combines Martin Wallace's knack for tight economic engines with a thematic space race, and the deckbuilding element gives it more strategic texture than typical race games. The hidden-roles twist is an interesting addition that keeps players guessing about rivals' true objectives. At 90 minutes and moderate complexity, it asks for a decent time investment but rewards players who enjoy resource-optimization puzzles. The space exploration theme is well realized without overshadowing the solid underlying mechanics.
