About the game
Letter Jam is a cooperative word game where each player holds letter cards visible to everyone but themselves, and the group must help each other deduce their hidden letters to spell out words. Players scan the table each round to find the longest possible word they can form from others' visible letters, then give numbered clues pointing to a letter's position within that word. Careful, limited communication and clever wordplay let players piece together their own mystery letters over time. At the end, players attempt to rearrange their cards into complete words for a collective score. Its clever hidden-information format makes for a uniquely cerebral party experience.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's team is impressed with how Letter Jam turns a simple "guess your own letter" premise into a genuinely brain-teasing communal puzzle. The communication limits force real cleverness in clue-giving rather than blunt spelling-out. It scales nicely up to six players and stays engaging throughout. Players less comfortable with wordplay or deduction may find it more challenging than lighter party games.
What we like
- Clever hidden-letter premise creates genuinely fresh deduction puzzles.
- Strong cooperative element keeps the whole table engaged.
- Companion word app keeps sessions varied.
- Scales well across a wide range of player counts.
Keep in mind
- Requires strong verbal communication, which can slow non-native speakers.
- Downtime can build while others deduce their letters.
- Less appealing to players who dislike wordplay-heavy games.
Who it's for
Great for word-game and puzzle lovers aged 10+ who enjoy cooperative deduction, best in groups of 4-6.
