About the game
Detective Club is a party deduction game built around simple rules that take just a minute to explain. Each round, one player secretly teams up with another, the Conspirator, trying to guide them to guess a secret word using only two illustrated clue cards. The rest of the players are detectives who know the word too, but must figure out who the hidden Conspirator is, all while avoiding being wrongly accused themselves. With plenty of discussion, accusation, and creative clue-giving, it's a lively party game for 4-8 players.
Hobbli's Notes
Detective Club cleverly hides a social deduction game inside a word-guessing party game, and the result is a lot of table talk and second-guessing. It shines brightest with a bigger, chatty group willing to dig into accusations and bluffs: quieter tables may get less out of it.
What we like
- Quick to teach with rules explained in about a minute.
- Generates lots of table talk, accusations, and laughter.
- Scales well to larger groups of up to 8 players.
- Blends deduction with creative, open-ended clue-giving.
Keep in mind
- Quieter or less confident players may engage less actively.
- Really shines only with a talkative, willing group.
- Outcomes can hinge on the luck of word and clue-card draws.
Who it's for
Party groups who enjoy bluffing and deduction, ages 8 and up; best with a larger group of 5-8 players.
