About the game

The Chameleon is a bluffing and deduction party game for 3-8 players, where one secret Chameleon must fake their way through a discussion about a Secret Word without knowing what it is. Each round, everyone but the Chameleon learns the word from a Topic Card via a pair of dice-rolled coordinates, then takes turns saying a word related to it. The Chameleon must bluff convincingly while the rest of the group tries to spot who's faking without giving away the answer. A vote at the end decides whether the Chameleon is caught or slips away undetected.

Hobbli's Notes

The Chameleon nails the sweet spot of simple rules and genuine social tension: it's endlessly replayable with just a stack of Topic Cards and works beautifully as an icebreaker for bigger groups. The bluffing is satisfying whether you're the Chameleon dodging suspicion or a hunter trying to expose them. A reliable pick whenever you need a quick, clever party game.

What we like

  • Extremely quick to teach and get playing.
  • Scales smoothly from small groups up to eight players.
  • Tense bluffing keeps every participant engaged each round.
  • Works great as a party icebreaker.

Keep in mind

  • Relies on players giving good, appropriately vague clues.
  • Less exciting with quieter or less talkative groups.
  • Limited long-term strategic depth.

Who it's for

Party groups and families with older kids or adults, ages 8 and up, scales well from 3 to 8 players.
