About the game
Spirits of the Wild is a two-player stone-collecting game where players use action cards to draw and place colorful stones from a central bowl, then give sets of matching stones to the five animals on their scoreboard. Powerful spirit abilities and the trickster Coyote let you distract your opponent, blocking them from gifting an animal at just the wrong moment. The game ends once five spirit stones are released from the bag, and whoever earned the most points from their animal sets wins.
Hobbli's Notes
Hobbli's editors find the tug-of-war over shared stones and the mischievous Coyote mechanic add real bite to what looks like a simple set-collection game. It's quick to set up and quick to play, making it an easy addition to a two-player rotation. Because it leans abstract with a light mythological veneer, it may not satisfy players looking for a strong narrative theme.
What we like
- Clever action-card system for drawing and placing stones.
- Quick setup and a short, tight playtime.
- Coyote's distraction ability adds satisfying tactical disruption.
- Appealing animal and mythology-inspired presentation.
Keep in mind
- Abstract gameplay may feel thin for theme-focused players.
- Limited to exactly two players.
- Small footprint means little table presence.
Who it's for
Good for two players who enjoy quick, clever set-collection duels; a nice fit for casual game nights or as a filler between heavier games.
